Caring for the Nordic Introvert
Vegetable-tanned leather responds well to basic care and poorly to neglect:
Moisture: Dry naturally at room temperature if the bag gets wet. No direct heat — radiators and hair dryers crack the leather. Stuff loosely with paper while drying to maintain shape.
Conditioning: A light leather conditioner (wax-based, such as Saphir) applied a few times a year maintains suppleness and deepens the patina.
Patina: Surface marks and colour deepening where the bag is handled most are normal and desirable — this is the leather ageing as it should, not damage.
Storage: Keep in a dust bag out of direct sunlight when not in use.
